WHAT WE DO
We conduct Labour Market Research to provide insights for our partners into workforce availability. We deliver employer supports and facilitate career placement opportunities to help employers reduce the risk of hiring and allow biotechnology workers access to unique opportunities in their field. We provide job search and candidate search tools to connect employers with talent, and we provide professional development opportunities for workers to develop the skills they need to support Canada’s bio-economy. We are connection-creators and relationship-builders, and we thrive on opening doors and creating opportunities for the groups we serve.

We are looking for a Business Development Support Representative to join our team! This is a temporary 1-year parental leave replacement contract.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Business Development Support Representative holds the dual role of active administrator and proactive sales of BioTalent Canada’s current Partnership program and product and service offerings. Reporting to the Manager, Business Development this role catalogues all partnership-related activity and tracks key metrics. With a focus on partner retention and lead generation, this role showcases BioTalent Canada’s project participation advantages to biotech stakeholders across Canada.
In this role you can expect to:

Research current and potential partners to understand business needs and educate on the value of BioTalent Canada’s products and services
-
Listen actively and ask effective/directed questions in all partner interactions to identify opportunities for solutions
-
Maintain regular partner touchpoints to ensure a high level of partnership care
-
Develop opportunities and close inside sales generated to a target quota through business development efforts
-
Action Inside sales of BioTalent Canada to upsell products and services to new and existing partners, clients and stakeholders as applicable
-
Work proactively with Business Development Manager towards overall partner and product sales revenue goals
-
Generate leads, follow up on sales leads from internal teams, and secure meetings with Business Development Manager to advance to the next step of the sales cycle
-
Assist with the research and preparation of background information for prospective partners
-
Participate in client events, meetings, appointments, and conferences, virtually and in-person when appropriate
-
Respond to prospect and partner inquiries and advise other internal stakeholders as needed
-
Enter and track sales pipeline in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system
-
Track submitted proposals and provide regular updates to the Business Development Manager
-
Provide materials for CEO/Business Development Manager for partner renewals and prospects (e.g contracts and KTS)

Ensure all business development administrative activities are well documented and organized
-
Perform other partner support-related activities as assigned
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
-
Strong, performing team player with an affable nature and excellent sense of humour
-
A passion for sales and customer service, with 2 years B2B client service and support or direct sales experience
-
Post-Secondary degree/diploma in a relevant discipline or a combination of education and experience in relevant fields
-
Strong active listening and presentation skills
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to persuade and influence
-
A motivated networker with the ability to build rapport with diverse clients
-
Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
-
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
-
High attention to detail and drive for continuous improvement to methods and processes
-
Proven administrative and reporting skills
-
Proficient in MS Office suite, CRM experience preferred
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

Bilingualism in English and French
BioTalent Canada offers a competitive total rewards package. Our hybrid work environment offers the flexibility to regularly work from the Ottawa office a minimum of two days per week and remotely from a designated home office.
