What you will be doing
- Assessing and underwriting moderate to complex risks, applying sound judgment and company guidelines.
- Making timely, strategic decisions that align with long-term business objectives.
- Implementing effective pricing and underwriting strategies within your authority.
- Coaching and providing technical guidance to underwriters in real-time scenarios.
- Leading or supporting quality assurance reviews to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Promoting process improvements and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you bring to the team
- 5+ years of experience in Personal Lines Underwriting, with a deep understanding of risk assessment and policy management.
- At least 2 years in a leadership or mentorship-focused role, with the ability to coach others and influence team development.
- Proven experience supporting or leading through change, with a practical understanding of change management principles.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook) to support reporting, analysis, and communication.
- CIP, CRM, or related designation is considered an asset and reflects your commitment to professional development.
- A strategic mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to balance technical accuracy with big-picture thinking.

In your first year, success will be measured by your ability to independently assess complex personal lines risks, apply sound underwriting judgment, and support the development of others through effective coaching. You’ll help build and shape a new underwriting framework, bringing flexibility and adaptability as processes evolve. Your contributions will help shape the future of the team, with opportunities to grow into a formal leadership role as the function matures.
