About the Opportunity:
KidsAbility is seeking a Data & Reporting Analyst to support the organization’s growing need for data-driven insights and improved business intelligence infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for data storytelling, a strong foundation in Power BI and Excel, and a collaborative mindset. Reporting to the Director of ITS and working closely with the BI Specialist, the Data Analyst will help design, build, and maintain reports and dashboards that support clinical, operational, and strategic decision-making across the organization. This is a great opportunity for a data professional looking to grow their impact in a mission-driven environment while developing skills in data strategy, governance, and advanced analytics. Responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:
- Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI, Excel, and other tools.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into meaningful and accessible visualizations.
- Assist in automating regular reports to improve data accessibility and reduce manual work.
- Support the creation of scalable and standardized reporting tools for internal performance tracking.
- Analyze trends and patterns in clinical and operational data to provide actionable insights.
- Translate complex data sets into clear, easy-to-understand narratives and visual stories for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Conduct ad hoc analysis in response to internal requests, supporting teams across the organization.
- Contribute to the development of data definitions, metadata documentation, and data quality standards.
- Help maintain a centralized data dictionary and support data integrity initiatives.
- Work with cross-functional teams to resolve data inconsistencies and improve reporting accuracy.
- Partner with departments such as Clinical Services, HR, and Finance to understand data needs and align reporting efforts.
- Support staff in interpreting and using data effectively in their roles.
- Champion a data-informed culture by making data insights approachable and usable across the organization.
More About You:
To qualify, applicants should have Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Health Informatics, Data Management, Social Sciences, or another related discipline; equivalent work experience will be considered. In addition to:
- 4–6 years of professional experience in data analytics, reporting, or business intelligence roles
- Strong proficiency in Power BI (including advanced DAX), Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, Power Query/M-Code), and SQL for dashboard/report development and data querying
- Experience with Python or R for ETL, data manipulation, or ad hoc analyses is an asset
- Solid understanding of data-visualization best practices and “data storytelling” to translate complex analyses into clear, compelling narratives
- Experience working with large or complex datasets, ensuring data integrity and quality
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability in stakeholder engagement—eliciting requirements, presenting findings, and facilitating data-driven decision-making
- Familiarity with data-governance principles, including metadata documentation, security controls, and data privacy standards
- Exposure to cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure Synapse, Power Platform, SharePoint) is a plus
- Experience in healthcare, non-profit, or other mission-driven environments is preferred
- Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate (DA-100) or equivalent certification is an asset.
- Certifications in data management or other BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Qlik)
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a vehicle may be required to support multi-site operations.
