Human Resources Generalist

Position: HR Generalist

Location: Victoria, BC *This position will operate as a remote member of the HR team located in Edmonton, Alberta. The role will operate remotely in BC until Mint establishes an office in Victoria, BC, at which time the role will become hybrid.

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Pay: $65,000-90,000 (Based on Experience)

Hours: Mon–Fri: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Position Overview

Mint Health + Drugs is seeking a talented HR Generalist to join our dynamic and growing team. This role is responsible for leading and advising on the daily functions of the Human Resources department from all stages of the employment lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, payroll and benefits, employee relations, policy implementation/compliance, terminations, training and development, and overall employee records maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • HRIS Management: Utilize Dayforce (HRIS) to update employee records, streamline HR processes, troubleshoot system issues, and collaborate with IT for technical support.
  • Employee Relations: Act as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries, concerns, and conflict resolution. Provide guidance to leaders on employee relations, performance management, and HR related tasks.
  • Policy Development: Develop, update, and communicate HR policies and procedures. Ensure compliance and provide training where necessary.
  • Workplace Health & Safety: Promote and enforce Occupational Health and Safety standards. Educate employees and leaders on safety practices.
  • Payroll Administration: Collaborate with finance to ensure accurate, timely bi-weekly payroll processing.
  • Benefits Administration: Manage employee benefits programs, including health, dental, and RRSP matching, ensuring timely enrolment, changes, and unenrolment.
  • Recruitment Support: Assist leaders with recruitment efforts and support the Talent Coordinator as needed.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Review Employment and Contractor Agreements to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and best practices.
  • Site Visits: Conduct regular site visits to engage with staff and ensure HR support across all locations.
  • Special Projects: Take on additional HR projects as assigned, such as investigations, mediations, developing training programs and facilitating to leaders and employees, etc.
  • General HR Administration: Handle general administrative tasks related to HR functions.

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CPHR or CPHR Candidate designation a definite asset
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on HR experience with proven skills in employee relations and leadership coaching.

Experience & Skills

  • Proven ability to interpret employment legislation across multiple provinces, with primary focus in British Columbia.
  • Experience in workplace investigations and performance management required.
  • Strong experience with Ceridian Dayforce HRIS and payroll processing is required.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Ceridian Dayforce HCM.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada and satisfy a Criminal Records Check.
  • Reliable transportation for site visits; ability to travel locally, provincially, and nationally as needed.
  • Although starting as a remote position, this role will be an on-site, in-office role in Victoria, BC—candidates must be local or willing to relocate at their own expense.
