Your Opportunity:

The Lois Hole Hospital for Women, located at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) campus, one of Alberta's largest and longest serving hospitals, provides expert care for women of all ages and in all stages of life. Centrally located in Edmonton's downtown core, the RAH serves a diverse community, including some of the province's most vulnerable populations. This position will be covering the Labor and Delivery unit/ Assessment/ Triage/ Induction area reporting to the Patient Care Manager of Obstetrics. Integrating knowledge of advanced nursing practice, the Nurse Practitioner in obstetrics is responsible and accountable for the provision of evidence- based expert clinical care to pregnant individuals and their families. As a Nurse Practitioner, you will demonstrate a professional attitude while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and consider the Essential Habits as set forth by the AHS Way in daily interactions with colleagues, patients, and visitors. Responsibilities of this position include handling obstetrical emergencies and caring for high-risk women with obstetrical complications and/or medical conditions complicated by pregnancy. This position will require a high level of resiliency and ability to deal with a stressful, high pace tertiary care environment delivering high-risk obstetrical care.

Description:

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems.

Required Qualifications:

Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree.

Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure.

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). CPR (BCLS) through Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required.

Fetal Health Surveillance (FHS) required.

Preferred Qualifications:

As required.
