Position Description
You will bring over a decade of progressive leadership experience and have expertise in financial controls, reporting and planning. Most importantly you will be highly analytical and business-savvy and able to combine strategic thinking with operational excellence, while effectively communicating financial insights to senior leadership, our Board, and external stakeholders.
As a key member of the Executive Leadership team, the Senior Vice President, Finance will report directly to the CFO, work closely with the CEO and play a central role in supporting the organization’s direction. As the Senior Vice President, Finance, you will be a proactive, dynamic, forward-thinking leader responsible for driving financial strategy, identifying operational efficiencies, improving organizational performance, while ensuring long-term financial sustainability. You will manage and oversee financial functions, including accounting, reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
Role Description:
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Partner with the CFO and senior leadership to shape and execute long-term financial strategies aligned with organizational priorities.
- Provide financial insight and decision support to drive performance, inform strategy, and enable growth.
- Lead scenario planning, financial modeling, and risk analysis for strategic initiatives.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Oversee annual budgeting, multi-year forecasting, and monthly/quarterly performance reviews.
- Drive the development and monitoring of KPIs and dashboard reporting to evaluate organizational performance.
- Lead business analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and operational efficiencies.
Accounting & Reporting
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory standards.
- Oversee the monthly close process and internal controls environment .
- Oversee audits, tax filings, and ensure compliance with non-profit regulatory requirements.
Team Leadership & Operational Excellence
- Provide inspirational leadership and guidance to finance staff, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Implement systems, policies, and processes to enhance effectiveness.
- Ensure strong vendor management, cash flow planning, and treasury functions.
Stakeholder Communication
- Present financial updates and recommendations to the Board of Directors and key committees.
- Serve as a liaison to funders, auditors, and regulatory agencies on financial matters.
- Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences.
Your experience includes:
- Leadership in finance: Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible and diverse experience in finance.
- Strategic Acumen: Strategic thinker, with experience in the development and implementation of short and long term strategic, multi-year financial and business plans; including the ability to work with executive leadership, Boards, and committees.
- Finance: Expert level knowledge and experience with current practices related to operating and capital budget planning, accounting, internal controls, financial reporting and forecasting.
- Critical Thinking and Financial Forecasting: Ability to identify and solve problems; ability to interpret complex and diverse information including investigation and resolution of financial variances, preparation of forecasts and financial models.
- People Leadership: Leadership and interpersonal skills to direct staff, provide advice and guidance to all levels including senior management.
- Engagement and Partnership: Experience engaging others, building consensus and delivering strategies, common solutions and results.
- Communications: Excellent written and oral communication skills; experience in reporting complex financial information to stakeholders at all levels.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree with a major in finance, business or a related field and a CPA in good standing.
