Syrian Canadian Foundation (SCF) & NEW Venture

The Syrian Canadian Foundation (SCF) aims to empower newcomers and people of diverse backgrounds while promoting cross cultural exchanges within Canadian society. Established in 2016 to support the resettlement of Syrian refugees in Canada, SCF now works with refugees and newcomers across many diverse groups and ethnicities.

The N.E.W Venture program is an entrepreneurial training program for newcomer and refugee women that aims to advance economic stability and social inclusion by equipping participants with the necessary skills and resources to launch a business in Canada.

Nisa Foundation

Nisa Foundation is a national non-profit supporting vulnerable women and children — particularly from Muslim and racialized communities — through culturally responsive, trauma-informed services. Our programs include transitional housing, case management, mental health support, and education. In this project, Nisa Foundation clients are participants of NEW Venture program and NF will ensure participants are equipped and guided throughout the program

Position Summary:

The Case Manager will support Nisa Foundation’s collaboration with SCF Canada on the NEW Venture Project – a 15-month entrepreneurial training program. The successful candidate will serve as the main liaison between participating clients and the SCF team,

supporting clients throughout the program lifecycle. This includes onboarding, ongoing support, and helping participants overcome barriers to program completion.

Key Responsibilities

Client Engagement & Program Initiation :

  • Work with the NEW Venture team to conduct outreach and support with client recruitment.
  • Conduct initial consultations and eligibility assessments.
  • Schedule and facilitate 1:1 or group intake meetings.
  • Collect relevant documentation and maintain accurate case records.

Program Navigation & Case support:

  • Coordinate referrals and warm hand-offs to SCF Canada for program activities.
  • Develop individualized support plans and monitor client participation across the 15-month journey.
  • Assist clients in accessing internal and external services, including mental health supports.
  • Ensure client participation and program completion through regular engagement.
  • Help clients connect with Nisa Foundation’s mental health counsellors and track service utilization (e.g., number of sessions attended, types of supports accessed) for reporting and evaluation.

Barrier Identification & Solution Planning:

  • Identify and address cultural, systemic, financial, or psychosocial barriers to client engagement.
  • Apply trauma-informed, anti-oppressive practices to case planning and service delivery.
  • Provide culturally responsive coaching, encouragement, and resources to help clients remain engaged and successful.

Partnership Coordination & Project Management:

  • Act as the communication bridge between Nisa Foundation clients and SCF Canada.
  • Maintain organized records, case notes, and client progress documentation.
  • Track project deliverables, timelines, and client outcomes, including mental health referrals and supports.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and SCF staff to ensure alignment in service delivery and client support.

Community & Relationship Building:

  • Build rapport with program participants and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Foster a culturally safe and empowering environment.
  • Promote participant self-efficacy and long-term success.

Reporting & Evaluation:

  • Monitor attendance, program milestones, and completion rates.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly updates on client engagement, barriers addressed, and service utilization.
  • Contribute to grant reporting and program evaluation processes as required.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in Social Work, Community Services, or a related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in case management, client services, or community-based programming.
  • Fluency in English and either Arabic or Urdu is required.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed and anti-oppressive practices.
  • Demonstrated understanding of barriers faced by racialized, newcomer, and Muslim communities.
  • Familiarity with coaching, mentoring, and client empowerment strategies.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Proficient with digital tools (email, Click Up, CRM, video conferencing, documentation platforms).
  • Must be located in the GTA and able to attend in-person one day per week.
