PetroChina Canada is recruiting for a Maintenance & Reliability Superintendent to join the Oil Sands Team at our MacKay River Facility (MRCP).
Reporting to the Manager, Oilsands Operations, the Maintenance & Reliability Superintendent is responsible for ensuring overall adherence to the maintenance and reliability programs for MRCP, the planning and scheduling of maintenance, reliability, and small project work scopes, and providing leadership and support in the management of the operations and maintenance (O&M) contractor(s) in the execution of these work scopes. This role will also provide oversight to site capital projects and lead turnaround planning and execution efforts.
This role is field based, including, but not limited to the following:
- Potential for intermittent periods outdoors and field office based work;
- Moderate physical activity at times including climbing stairs and ladders and lifting up to 50lbs;
- Field office based work is primarily sedentary and cognitive in nature
- Activate and respond to the emergency response plan
- Be on call during nights while on regularly scheduled shifts
- Shift Rotation is seven (7) days on /seven (7) days off, subject to operational requirements.
Accountabilities Maintenance and Reliability
- Lead the planning & scheduling of maintenance and reliability activities
- Coordinate with O&M for maintenance priorities
- Provide leadership and support to O&M staff in the execution of maintenance and reliability work
- Liaising with the Chief Inspector, ensure all AIMS activities are planned, scheduled, and executed to maintain program and regulatory compliance
- Provide input and guidance to maintenance and reliability practices and processes
- Liaising with the SCM team and/or O&M contractor, ensure required materials and services are requisitioned and onsite to support scheduled work
- Monitor and support the reporting of maintenance KPIs
- Support the continuous optimization of spare parts and inventory
Small Projects and MOC Scope
- Lead the planning and coordination of site based small projects as PCC’s site-based representative
- Coordinate project funding and resources with the support from Cost Control
- Coordinate and optimize the site scheduling to ensure maximum usage of staff and third-party contractors
- Daily and weekly project optimization
- Cost tracking
- People planning, utilization and optimizations
- Integration with MRCP long term planning
- Ensure proper TCCC, C&SU is completed for all projects in a brownfield environment
- Utilize Calgary/site staff to assist in coordination and scope execution
Lead Turnaround Planning
- Track and maintain any work requiring a plant turnaround
- Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure all work scopes are identified
- Lead the planning and scheduling activities for plant turnarounds
- Support the development of cost estimates and budgets
- Support the development of scopes/bid documents and vendor selection for third-party services
Leadership
- Promote continuous improvement in plant operations and practices
- Responsible to work safely and to report all unsafe or unhealthy conditions and ensure that safe and healthy work conditions are maintained
- Maintain open communication within and between departments
- Mentor awareness of company policies and legislation requirements
- Maintain a culture of HUPA
- Lead and demonstrate a workplace of professionalism and respect
- Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff and contractors at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment
- Compliance with PCC policies, standards and procedures in all aspects of work
- Accountable for performing job duties successfully, efficiently and safely at all times and ownership over personal skill and competency development

- Coordinate and manage vehicle fleet maintenance
- Road maintenance activities, invoices, contract management
- Lead large, complex, or critical maintenance activities, as required
Qualifications Education
- Journeyman Maintenance Technician, or Power Engineering Certification, or Engineering Degree
Experience
- 10+ years’ applicable operations professional with a background in operations, maintenance or technical management
- Project management experience
- Prior experience with SAP an asset
- Exposure to Heavy Oil SAGD operations and/or project experience
- Experience working in remote field locations (e.g. winter environments) an asset
- Evidence of strong leadership skills and ability to influence others

- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work well with diverse personalities and work force
