The Opportunity We are currently seeking a NDE Specialist to join our Engineering team in Sudbury. This is a permanent position covered under the Collective Agreement between Vale and the Local 2020-05 United Steelworkers.

As a NDE Specialist you will provide cost effective non-destructive examination services to plant operations, plant maintenance, plant engineering and Engineering Services within Sudbury, ON. NDE is required by legislation, engineering specifications and by the plant personnel, to achieve safety, production and maintenance targets and schedule.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Conduct inspections in both field and shop environments.
  • Analyze results, provide recommendations, and ensure compliance with codes and standards.
  • Calibrate, test, and adjust instruments while reviewing internal procedures.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering personnel to clarify scope and expectations.
  • Maintain technical records, prepare reports, and communicate findings effectively.
  • Uphold personal and workplace safety while managing tools, supplies, and training needs.

About You Education: Technical College Diploma in a maintenance related field (technical trades)

Experience: 5 yrs experience performing NDE inspections

Skills:

  • CGSB Level 1 UT, Level 2 PT and MT and CWB W178.2 Level 1
  • Reporting, NDE instruments, training and coaching, Internal standards.
  • Spreadsheet, statistical analysis, trigonometry
  • Codes and standards, acceptance criteria, calibration standards
