About School District #59 (Peace River South)

Primary and Secondary Education

Our Schools, Our Communities

The Peace River South School District is located in the alluring northeast region of British Columbia. We acknowledge the South Peace region is located within Treaty 8 Territory, a traditional gathering place and travelling route for the Cree, Dene, Dunne-Za and Métis. We understand, appreciate, and graciously honour that School District No. 59 spans traditional lands where many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit travelled and gathered for centuries.

Our district includes the communities of Chetwynd, Dawson Creek, and Tumbler Ridge, where we offer public education programs from kindergarten to grade 12. With approximately 3,600 students enrolled across 20 schools, our classes are like our communities: close-knit with a spirit of adventure.
