About the role
Join Cameco and play a pivotal role in optimizing our Materials, Repair, and Operations (MRO) category strategic spend and driving long-term business success. This role involves conducting market research for critical chemicals, fuels, and spare parts; providing insights to senior management on contracting strategies; and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Supply chain management is currently focused on driving efficiency through automation within the MRO category and this role is instrumental in achieving those objectives. You will also focus on cost optimization, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement, while mentoring and developing your team of category specialists to achieve targets.
In this role, you will:
- Outline business unit requirements, objectives, challenges, and value drivers for the MRO including critical chemicals, reagent, and fuels
- Manage and optimize spending in MRO and sub-categories
- Manage and develop a team of contract and category specialists
- Develop and implement category strategies for medium and long-term (1-5 years)
- Develop vendor segmentation process for Cameco and implement the process for MRO category
- Understand Business Unit requirements for Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and contribute to the development of SRM business process and technology road map
- Conduct market research to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
- Align category strategies with long-term business goals
- Lead and implement tactics to support category strategy
- Organize cross-functional teams to implement tactics
- Charter tactics as projects with defined stakeholders, team members, actions, and outcomes
- Lead cross-functional teams to deliver category-specific projects
- Report on category performance, including risks, savings, updates, and supplier metrics
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior management on category trends, risks, and performance
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree within a related field (business/commerce)
- 10+ years of procurement and supply chain management experience, including experience in category management
- Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
- At least quarterly travel to northern Saskatchewan and Ontario sites is required
Recommended:
- Experience in mining or natural resources preferred
