About the role
The Department of Environment, Culture and Society (ECS) is seeking a sessional instructor to teach ANTH 3280 Indigenous Peoples in Comparative Perspective (3,0,0) in the Fall 2025 semester. The successful candidate will deliver the in-person lecture for this course. Please see TRU’s public course schedule for times and location of instruction.
The course description is as follows:
This course takes a cross-cultural comparative approach to the study of contemporary Indigenous Peoples. Indigenous Peoples constitute a diverse range of groups throughout the world. What they have in common is the shared experience of colonization. Recognizing the diversity of Indigenous Peoples throughout the world, this course will explore both those experiences shared between groups, and those unique to local contexts.
QUALIFICATIONS
PhD in Anthropology or closely related discipline, or PhD candidates and applicants with Master’s Degrees with accumulated professional experience that contributes to engaged scholarly teaching in the fields of Indigenous Studies, community-based research, applied anthropology, archaeology, and/or ethnographic research. Demonstrated teaching ability and expertise in the area of specialization.
All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply, however applications from Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority.
