Job Summary & Key Responsibilities

A part-time academic is required to teach section (01) Chinese 1031.03: Introduction to Chinese (Mandarin Chinese) Part 1 – Fall Term 2025 (September 1, 2025 – December 31, 2025)

Currently Scheduled: Section (01) T/R 11:35am – 12:55pm

The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including admission, lectures, test preparation, evaluation, and electronic submission of grades. Instructors are expected to maintain reliable and constant communication with the administration of the Department, to be available for two hours per week for consultation with students, and to have students fill out the evaluation questionnaire at the end of the course.

Qualifications/Requirements of Position

Applicants should have native or near-native fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese and possess a graduate degree or other academic and/or professional qualifications deemed suitable for teaching the class. Good teaching skills, including grammar training, commitment to student learning, and strong sense of personal responsibility. Previous teaching experience at the post-secondary level will be an asset.

Salary Range/Pay Rate

Per CUPE Collective Agreement

All offers of employment as a Part-Time Academic are conditional upon sufficient student enrolment in the course and approval by the University.
