Position Summary

This position is responsible for directing overall sanitation efficiencies in a cost-effective manner and for managing all sanitation resources and assets. This position supervises, directs, trains and develops sanitation employees to ensure company objectives are achieved.

Responsibilities

  • Understand, promote, follow and ensure team compliance for all company and regulatory standards including, but not limited to, Provincial Employment Standards and Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS), Food Safety (GMP/SQF), Safe Operating Procedures (SOP's), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
  • Ensure that all aspects of sanitation operations are being implemented according to the sanitation schedule and resourced accordingly
  • Commits to and motivates employees to go beyond the rules to ensure food quality and protect food safety, assume ownership and take appropriate action proactively without direction
  • Maintains an effective quality system for the prevention of substandard quality: identifies and reduces costs resulting from poor quality and misuse of raw materials; anticipates problem areas and takes necessary steps to circumvent these problems
  • Ensures that sanitation lead hands and operators monitor and document production parameters on a regular basis, compare them to established standards, and proactively report variances to their direct supervisor
  • Cultivates a Continuous Quality Improvement mentality on the floor to yield better processes, reduce waste, and increase machine efficiency
  • Reports observations of any deviation to the process/procedure, a defect or nonconformance to the product which may result in a situation requiring food safety assessment and placing product on hold/disposing to management immediately
  • Establish training needs of team and implement employee training to ensure they have required competencies to carry out their job responsibilities
  • Report all safety concerns to a member of your Joint Health and Safety Committee and Manager(s)
  • Participant in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SSOPs) to meet HACCP, KOSHER, SQF, CFIA and QAI standards and regulations

Education

  • A Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing supervisory role
  • Post-Secondary Education related area of study and/or equivalent experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills built on a team-focused approach
  • Good verbal and written English language skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work with a high degree of discretion and tact in handling confidential matters
  • Ability to supervise, lead and motivate a team to achieve and exceed their goals

Work Conditions

  • Current Shift: 9:30pm - 6am (subject to change as needed)
  • Permanent Full-time position (40 hours per week)
  • Work is performed (20% in office environment and 80% in production facility)
  • Exposure to noise and a wet temperature varied environment when in the production area
  • Flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as required to meet business needs
  • Able/willing to work graveyard shift
  • Flexible to work on weekdays and weekends
