The Dietary Aide, in alignment of the Mission, Vision and Values of Providence Care provides safe and appealing meal service to Residents, and guests at catering functions, performs cleaning and dishwashing duties, and ensures proper storage, dating and rotation of all food products in keeping with appropriate standards and guidelines for the department and in accordance with the Ministry of Health LTC regulations, The Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Public Health Act.
Education & Experience
- Successful completion or enrolment in Food Service Worker training program offered by an established college as listed in the Ontario colleges of Applied Arts and Technology Act, 2002 or a registered private career college in Ontario OR meeting the qualifications as identified in the Regulations of the Long Term Care Act, preferred
- Previous LTC experience an asset
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions in English
- Successful completion of the Food Handler’s Course every 5 years
Position Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with meal service for residents, staff, and guests as assigned
- Check temperature and condition of all food items
- Partition food items in appropriate portion size
- Transport food carts/catering wagons to designated areas
- Set up and clear dining room tables as assigned
- Perform daily cleaning duties as assigned
- Prepare between meal nourishments and unit kitchen floor supplies as assigned
- Ensure proper delivery, storage, dating and rotation of all items
- Maintain clean work station, equipment, and storage areas
