Job Description
CentreCanada is looking for a Language Instructor to deliver engaging and practical English language lessons as part of its 2025 Summer School program. This role focuses on improving students’ communication, fluency, and confidence through interactive and culturally relevant instruction. Lessons will emphasize real-life vocabulary, conversation, and basic literacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver ESL lessons tailored to youth from newcomer backgrounds
- Use games, storytelling, visuals, and role-play to build vocabulary and fluency
- Support students in developing functional English for school, daily life, and peer interaction
- Create a safe, inclusive classroom where students feel comfortable speaking
- Provide individual guidance and informal progress feedback
- Integrate cultural topics and real-world applications into lessons
- Collaborate with other staff to ensure consistent support across the program
- Other duties as assigned, including helping with field trips or event preparation
CentreCanada Newcomer Services Society is a community-based, not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting the settlement, education, and integration of newcomer families across the Lower Mainland. Through inclusive programming, mentorship, and educational services, we work to empower youth, strengthen families, and build bridges between communities. Our summer school program provides newcomer youth with enriching, supportive, and skill-building experiences that prepare them for success both inside and outside the classroom.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching ESL or language acquisition to youth or children
- Familiarity with culturally responsive and trauma-informed teaching practices
- Turkish language fluency strongly preferred
- Experience working with CentreCanada programs or similar educational organizations
- Ability to motivate and support students in gaining confidence and communication skills
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.85 per hour
Expected hours: 35 per week
