How will you make an impact in this role?
The Anti-Money Laundering & Anti-Terrorist Financing (AML/ATF), Sanctions and the Anti-Corruption (“ASA”) Governance Manager, will be responsible for delivering and/or coordinating the ongoing requirements related to functional procedures, training, reporting and exam management in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and internal American Express policy. This role will be reporting to the Senior Manager within the Anti-Money Laundering Office of Amex Bank of Canada (“Bank”). The ASA Compliance Manager provides support for the Bank’s ASA Programs, ensuring quality and consistency of governance standards and reporting across the function. The ASA Governance Manager must maintain a clear understanding of the ASA regulatory requirements, internal expectations, and processes across all lines of business in order to successfully document and report on ASA risks for the Bank.
Responsibilities include:
Drive continued improvement of the ASA Program’s suite of procedures, desk instructions and guidance including alignment and assurance of related first line operating procedures. This will include understanding and incorporating broader Global Financial Crimes Compliance (GFCC) uplifts and revisions as well as any applicable changes to the Bank.
- Manage the alignment and timely completion of the function’s reporting requirements while seeking to enhance ASA risk reporting capabilities. Responsibilities include oversight of first line risk reporting as well as all ASA reporting, including Bank committees and Board.
- Support the ASA Risk Management Framework through control assessment and effectiveness testing.
- Develop, maintain and provide specialized training to Bank colleagues, Senior Management and Directors, as required.
- Coordinate Exam Management efforts, where necessary with Global teams. Includes both internal oversight / audit and external reviews of the Bank’s ASA program as well as broader reviews that impact the function. Manage resultant action plans where applicable.
- Responsible for the function’s Record keeping requirements including System of Record (SOR) integrity and version control of functional documentation such as regulatory filings and procedures.
- Perform special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
- Support the Banks Anti-Corruption and ASA Operation and Advisory Programs when required.
Minimum Qualifications
- University degree or equivalent combination of education and business experience.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience related to ASA compliance program strategy and management, and goal & program effectiveness evaluation processes.
- Strong working knowledge of American Express or banking industry products and services, in particular a strong understanding of credit card and loan products.
- Strong understanding of Canada’s regulatory environment and applicable laws and regulations as it relates to ASA.
- Preferred applicant will have ACAMS Certification.
- Strong organizational and planning skills to administer and perform a broad range of projects and processes.
- Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills to successfully interact, persuade, and influence a broad spectrum of constituents at all levels.
