About Touchstone Institute Touchstone Institute is the largest assessment centre of its kind in Canada, providing professional competency assessment and learning programs to support the delivery of high-quality health care.
Touchstone Institute is a non-profit corporation governed by a Board of Directors and receives financial support from the Government of Ontario, in addition to generating revenue through direct business to business contracts seeking competency assessment and learning solution services. Currently implementing a new strategic plan, Touchstone Institute looks to expand its impact in supporting broad health human resource solutions and by strengthening effective practice of health care professionals. Nearly 50 full-time staff contribute to the organization's successful entry-to-practice assessments, simulation-based education, and career-long learning supports to achieve and sustain high reliability by ensuring both practitioners and institutions are equipped to deliver safe, consistent, and high-quality care.
Building on its history of working to facilitate entry to training or practice for Internationally Educated Health Professionals, Touchstone Institute seeks to continue the work in this area while expanding to support excellence in competent practice for all who deliver health care.
Touchstone Institute is seeking the services of a communications consultant to provide strategic communications support to establish and strengthen the communications portfolio foundational elements and deliverables throughout this year.
Scope Of The Work Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer or her designate, the successful vendor will establish and strengthen engagement and communications portfolio foundational elements and deliverables. This work would include the following:
Communications & Workflow Foundations
- Build structured processes with leads across Communications, Engagement, and People & Culture
- Create a streamlined workflow for recurring communications
- Define documentation protocols for campaign planning, approvals, and reporting
Executive Team Public Relations Support
- Plan communication activities
- Draft a calendar for engagements and speaking opportunities
- Oversee content creation
Lead the creation of a communications campaign (first draft by September 2025) with these elements:
- Creative concept and messaging
- Plan and support the production of milestone videos and impact stories
- Event planning including full implementation timeline
- Cross-platform promotion
Commitment The successful vendor will be expected to work up to 20 hours per week over the course of at least 4 days, and attend Touchstone Institute's office weekly every Tuesday and on the occasional Wednesday, and virtually all other days.
Contract Term August 2025 to December 2025, after which time Touchstone Institute will assess its need for ongoing senior strategic support with the option to extend the term for up to 8 hours per week through to March 31, 2026.
