About the role

Kelowna General Hospital is looking for a permanent full time Operating Room Inventory | Equipment Coordinator in Kelowna, BC.

Shift Type & Times: Days, 07:00 to 15:00

Days off: Sun, Sat, STAT

Days of: Rotating

About the role:
This position acts as an expert resource to various health service teams throughout the system in the ongoing provision and monitoring of supplies and equipment in order to meet changing and complex care needs. Responsible for the introduction and monitoring of supplies, equipment and technology for peri-operative client care and for identifying efficiency and effectiveness of same. Develops and ensures effective utilization of equipment and supplies related to the service delivery model for delivering complex peri-operative care. The OR Inventory/Equipment Coordinator works in conjunction with various Health Service disciplines and external resources to identify and develop educational opportunities for staff regarding the changing inventory of supplies, equipment and technology within the Operating Room. The OR Inventory/Equipment Coordinator is responsible for communicating changes in the day-to-day supply and equipment needs of the OR and communicates the needs between programs so that changes in equipment and supplies can be anticipated and monitored and alternate strategies developed in order to facilitate the most effective and efficient use of health service resources in order to meet the clients’ needs. Responsible for developing and ensuring the effectiveness of policies, procedures and standards to support the utilization of resources within the Operating Room. Responsible for supervising staff.

Education, Training and Experience:
Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

Post graduate course in OR Nursing; and five year’s recent related Operating Room experience including at least one year’s recent related experience with computer ordering of equipment and supplies, receiving and maintaining inventory control, and other related material service functions; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
