Position Title: Senior Technology Specialist, Data Protection
Reports To: Lead Technology Architect, Data
Department: IT
Term: Permanent Full-Time
Band: 4L
Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.
The Opportunity: Equitable is growing! We are looking for a Senior Technology Specialist, Data Protection to join our IT team! We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Technology Specialist, Data Protection to join Equitable's Technology team. A team player who will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable data protection solutions using Data Protection and other relevant technologies. What you will be doing:
- Be the technical subject matter expert for the design, deployment and operational integration of Data Protection technologies, which includes but not limited to Discovery, Data Classification, and Data Loss Prevention.
- Maintain and enhance shared security and compliance related technology solutions and infrastructure. This role will partner with a cross-functional team to research, develop, test and refine cloud and on-prem based data protection solutions to optimize the organizations' security and compliance posture.
- Provide technical and practice leadership to evolve processes and technologies that enable continuous discovery, classification, protection, monitoring, and response of shared infrastructure and data management systems that enable business priorities, capabilities, and service experience for internal and external clients.
- Designing and managing the deployment of Data Protection for cloud and on-prem Data Discovery, assisting the business with defining rules for Data Classification, and supporting the integration with IT Security for Data Leakage Prevention through monitoring and incident response across various tool sets.
- Effectively communicate complex findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Prepare and deliver presentations to convey the value, scope, and effectiveness of data protection initiatives.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in Azure Cloud technologies, Compliance, and Data Protection trends and other relevant technologies, and provide recommendations for adopting new tools and techniques.
- Participate in on-call rotation
What you will bring:
- 5+ years experience in IT, IT Security, Governance Risk & Compliance, or Advanced Data Management
- Post-secondary degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in the following or related discipline: computer science, computer systems engineering, software engineering, data management, IT security with a data management focus, IT Audit, or GRC roles
- Hands-on experience with Cloud and on-prem data discovery, data classification and data management solutions
- Experience developing and evolving policies and procedures across multiple disciplines
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex Data Protection issues.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience with Data Loss Prevention and Zero Trust solutions is an asset
- SC-401 Microsoft Certified: Information Security Administrator Associate, or other security or compliance certifications (CISSP, CCSP, CISA, CISM, CGEIT, GSEC) is an asset
