Position Summary

The Network Administrator is responsible for conducting support operations and major project work within Calgary Stampede’s data communications technical space. The Network Administrator will also provide feedback on technical elements of strategic direction related to data communications. The ideal candidate will not only possess strong network administration skills but also have the ability to demonstrate exceptional customer service and communication abilities. This role requires regular interaction with end users, vendors, and direct team members. The ability to clearly explain technical concepts and processes in a way that is easy for others to understand is essential. A successful candidate will be approachable, collaborative, and committed to delivering high-quality support in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Escalate issues to vendors [website] Cisco TAC, telcos, MSP’s) and/or other internal groups and collaborate with said groups to resolve complex issues.
  • Support the corporate network infrastructure by resolving incidents. This includes providing 7x24 support by participating in an on-call rotation.
  • Support user community by executing service requests for Moves, Adds, Changes, Deletions for the corporate network infrastructure.
  • Communicate status of technical network tasks to IS project stakeholders for network and other projects.
  • Implement new network systems (Projects) for various sites and groups: Perform testing of implemented designs to ensure successful go-live Document as-built configurations for implemented systems
  • Support and provide solutions and recommendations for the various events that take place at Stampede Park year-round.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be proactive, optimistic and have worked in a dynamic environment where they have experience delivering on multiple priorities and will hold the following qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in IT infrastructure management program.

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience operating in an Enterprise IT environment.

  • Prior routing and switching experience, preferably capable of attaining Cisco accreditations (Cisco Certified Network Associate – Routing and Switching).

  • Management skills and current routing and switching technologies for installation and operational support of enterprise network infrastructure.

  • Must have previous experience designing, maintaining and operating Cisco wireless controller (required).

  • Must have previous experience designing, maintaining and operating Cisco Catalyst switches (required).

  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of Cisco Wireless Technologies and Network Security fundamentals.

  • Working knowledge of key technical aspects of server infrastructure, data centers and enterprise IT infrastructure technologies.

  • Strong knowledge and competence in operating in an Enterprise ITIL environment.

  • Excellent analytical and technical troubleshooting skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Skillset and Experience will be considered an asset:

  • Experience maintaining and operating Cisco Identity services engine (ISE) is preferred
  • Experience maintaining and operating Cisco DNAC is preferred
  • Experience maintaining and operating Paloalto firewall is preferred
  • Experience operating Ekahau spectrum analyzer is preferre
