About the role

The Transportation & Logistics Division is currently seeking a Communications Coordinator located in our Saint John, N.B head office. The successful candidate is an enthusiastic communicator who thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. The selected candidate will work collaboratively within the Transportation & Logistics Division to improve communication processes and tools across the Division.

  • Manage the divisional communications calendar and assist with the proactive planning of editorial content.

  • Complete writing assignments according to set standards regarding accuracy, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology using approved processes.

  • Assist with the creative development, coordination, scheduling, production, and delivery of diverse internal and external communication materials.

  • Coordinate the publication of blog stories, which includes editorial planning, writing, and editing of articles, layout, and production management.

  • Assist in managing and developing content for a range of digital communications activities including social media, internal/external websites, and other platforms.

  • Create and coordinate the production of designed content (e.g. advertisements, signage, banners, etc.).

  • Visually capture through high-quality photography and videography the activity occurring across our operations to support editorial and ad hoc stories and content.

  • Work with J.D. Irving, Limited’s Corporate Communications and Corporate Branding teams to ensure brand standards are met, participate in audits as required, and action results.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a university degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field or an advanced diploma in Public Relations plus an undergraduate degree, or combination of relevant education and experience.

  • 1-3 years experience in public relations/communications.

  • Experience in creative writing, project management, photography, and design.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, photo editing software (Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.), graphic design software (Canva, Open, InDesign, etc.), and video editing software (iMovie, Premier Pro, Final Cut, etc.).

  • Experience working with a content management system is an asset.

  • Flexibility to work overtime and travel as required.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize work and handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, diverse, and growth-oriented environment.

  • Ability to cultivate trusting relationships, deliver results, and have a strong desire to learn about our people and operations.
