WM Schmidt Mechanical Contractors is Family Owned & Operated and founded in 1956 by William Schmidt. Today, the Schmidt Family is still actively involved in the evolution, expansion and aggressive growth of the company.
With generations of experience, we are considered one of the largest independent, combined mechanical shops in Western Canada! This uniquely positions us to be heavily relied upon and seen as the ‘Go-To’ for local homebuilders. Our accomplishments are due, in many ways, to the commitment, drive and determination of our staff. WM Schmidt was one of the first to achieve the coveted Alberta Occupational Health and Safety “Certificate of Recognition” (COR) in the residential mechanical industry.
We have grown our staff to 90+ and occupy a 20,000 square foot workshop. We utilize 50+ company trucks to install heating, air conditioning, plumbing, and radiant floor heating systems in and around the Calgary and surrounding areas.
We support our team members in their growth, betterment and in working together towards our shared goal of continuing to grow and build Alberta for future generations. Wm Schmidt is currently seeking / has vacancy for a(n) | Service Coordinator/Dispatcher – Plumbing Department|
Playing a pivotal role, the Service Coordinator/Dispatcher is the central communication and coordination hub for the company’s busy service operations. The successful candidate must be highly organized, customer focused and proactive in their service mindset.
Skilled professional will actively demonstrate and ensure our valued customers receive prompt, exceptional service through any and all of the following: efficiently dispatching technicians, coordinating scheduling, transportation and routes while meticulously managing schedules, and providing clear, consistent communication throughout the exceptional service experience & process.
Key components of a highly successful contributor in this role demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, a keen eye for detail, a willingness to evaluate processes and look for efficiencies and bring forth to management, and the ability to think quickly and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Efficiently dispatch technicians to service calls, optimizing routes, technician availability, and job urgency.
- Proactively manage and optimize technician schedules, ensuring timely arrivals and efficient use of resources.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for customers
- Providing timely updates on service calls, answering inquiries, and resolving scheduling conflicts with professionalism and courtesy with staff, clients and/or customers.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all service calls, technician activities, customer interactions, and resolutions within our systems.
- Prioritize emergency calls and adapt quickly to unexpected changes or urgent requests, re-routing technicians as needed.
- Collaborate closely with technicians, customer service, and management to ensure seamless communication and operational flow.
- Utilize dispatching, ERP, and other company software effectively to manage all aspects of service coordination.
- Handle incoming calls and emails, addressing customer needs and directing queries appropriately.
Successful candidate’s will demonstrate:
- Exceptional Organizational Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain meticulous records in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong Customer Service Acumen: Demonstrated ability to interact with customers in a friendly, empathetic, and professional manner, ensuring positive experiences.
- Knowledge of Calgary: A strong understanding of Calgary's geography, routes, and traffic patterns is essential for efficient dispatching and route planning.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Superior verbal and written communication abilities, with a talent for clear and concise messaging.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to think quickly, troubleshoot issues, and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Tech-Savvy: Comfortable and proficient using dispatching software, CRM systems, and other computer applications.
- Ability to work both independently and as a collaborative team member.
- High school diploma or equivalent.

Additional Assets & Skills of Benefit:
- Background in Service focusing in Plumbing and/or HVAC
- Previous experience in the industry, particularly in a service, administrative, or dispatching role
