The Journeyman Millwright / Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of all plant equipment. This hands-on role involves installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of machinery and mechanical systems in a safe and efficient mannerfor the assembly, installation, alignment, maintenance, repair, troubleshoot, inspection, dismantle, and movement of machinery and equipment. Cleaning, adjusting, and lubricating machinery are also important maintenance tasks of the role. Journeyman Millwright / Maintenance Technician workers are also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the work site.

Wage: $46.77 Hourly

This role is for a full-time, dayshift position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide troubleshooting and problem-solving solutions for the general repair of machinery and equipment, and provide recommendations for improvements and processes
  • Assemble, install, and maintain shop machinery and equipment
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery and equipment
  • Maintain a clean, tidy work facility which includes daily housekeeping of shop areas
  • May be asked to safely operate forklift and hoisting devices when necessary
  • Use a wide variety of hand power tools, including mobile equipment, along with welding/fabricating materials, if necessary, in a safe and efficient manner
  • Fabricate and weld Plant/Fleet components, including aluminum, steel, and stainless steel, as required
  • Perform shift work based on company business needs which evolve and change in response to customer demands
  • Work overtime as instructed to ensure minimal downtime of facilities
  • Adhere to the company Code of Conduct and all West Coast Reduction Ltd. policies
  • Foster a positive team and company culture by ensuring treatment of others is respectful and aligned with company values
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possession of a valid British Columbia Journeyperson Millwright Certificate or interprovincial Millwright Red Seal Certification
  • Previous experience and extensive knowledge of fabricating and welding an asset
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to read or interpret diagrams, schematic drawings and manuals to determine work procedures
  • Ability to frequently move, carry, lift, push and pull equipment up to 50 lbs without assistance and occasionally greater with assistance
  • Perform repetitive motions including bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing and reaching overhead above the shoulders daily
  • Adaptable to adverse conditions including confined space, heights, cold weather, odours and animal by-products
