In 1998, the Region al Municipality of Waterloo and the seven area municipalities ( The Cities of Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo and the Townships of North Dumfries, Wellesley, Wilmot and Woolwich) formed the WRMIP . The WRMIP oversees insurance programs on a group basis for these municipalities and manage s their claims while offer ing risk management services to all members.

Under the direction of the W RMIP ’s Risk Manager you will:
- Claims Investigator (80% of your time) : within authorized limits investigate and settle claims for property damage on member municipalities ’ owned properties ; i nvestigate, negotiate and settle claims made by third parties against member municipaliti es f or bodily injury and property damage losses .
- Loss Control Inspector (20% of your time) : i nspect buildings, playgrounds and other properties owned by member municipalities for liability and building risks . Appraise buildings to ensure proper replacement cost insurance values by utilizing in-house software .
Your knowledge will include v arious statutes such as The Insurance Act of Ontario, Occupier’s Liability Act, The Negligence Act, The Municipal Act, The Ontario Building Code, The Ontario Fire Code and any other statutes relative to the job function. Y ou will also have e xtensive knowledge of insurance policy wordings and r isk management principles.
Qualifications Your qualifications will consist of a t least 5 (five) years experience in the insurance industry , i ncluding but not limited to, the adjusting and processing of claims; exposure related to property damage claims; exposure to b odily injury claims; and exposure to loss control inspection or risk management analysis including:
- Secondary school graduation (required)
- Post secondary school training in insurance related courses (required)
- Insurance Institute of Canada’s Certified Insurance Professional Designation - CIP ( completed or close to completion - required )
- Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI) certification through the National Association of Fire Investigators would be an asset
- Class G drivers licence (required)
- Must provide own vehicle for travel daily (required)
- Computer skills in Excel, Word, or equivalent (required)
- Ability to communicate well, both written and orally (required)
- Must be ab le to maintain a high level of confidentiality (required)
- Must be able to provide a satisfactory Police clearance check (required)
Salary Range: $ 79,581.04 to $91,823.38 (based on 5 step salary grid)
Conditions Of Employment
- Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check at your own expense as a condition of employment conducted within the last 60 days.
- Proof of education, qualifications and any other job bona fide requirements will also be collected.
- Must provide Driver ’ s Abstract at your own expens e as a condition of employment conducted within the last 30 days.
