Lerners is seeking an eDiscovery Specialist to support the eDiscovery team in the London, Ontario office. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of experience working in a similar position. The primary responsibility is the unitization and coding of evidence in Relativity and Primafact. The role involves coordinating projects with the eDiscovery team, as well as logging and assessing scope of projects, communicating with legal teams and monitoring project progress through to completion. The eDiscovery Specialist will prioritize projects based on workload in order to meet deadlines established by the legal teams. This is an entry level position with the expectation of growth into a larger role within the eDiscovery department. This position is available as a fully remote or hybrid role.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage and track projects within IT service management system
- Assess new projects logged, that have special requirements or anomalies to determine due dates based on end user requests, volume and workload of the eDiscovery team
- Unitize documents (split PDFs into single document units) within various software programs (e.g. Adobe DC & Kofax)
- Break out attachments and create family relationships (Parent/child attachment)
- Objectively and subjectively code in document management review platforms (e.g. Relativity, Primafact) according to the firm standards
- Provide timelines, updates and communications to legal teams
- Provide support and assistance to legal teams relating to eDiscovery projects
- Provide assistance to eDiscovery Team (Analyst, PM & Manager)
- Work with eDiscovery Team for training and mentorship
- Quality assurance checks on all projects according to firm standards and procedures
- Work with, instruct and retain vendors for scanning, unitization and coding projects
- Facilitate scanning jobs with Lerners’ in-house Print and Distribution Services
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of legal experience required (Law Clerk or Legal Assistant Diploma from an accredited College an asset)
- Strong knowledge of data management software, specifically Relativity and Primafact
- Expertise in all areas of paper and digital document organization
- Knowledge of EDRM, Rules of Civil Procedure as well as Federal and Supreme Court of Canada Rules as they relate to eDiscovery and the Sedona Principles an asset
- Prior experience working with a project management tool and assigning tasks an asset
- Ability to adapt to new software, technologies and processes easily
- Capacity to handle high-pressure situations and deadlines
- Attention to detail is paramount
