PRIMARY TEACHER

Part-time (0.4 FTE) position

Ecole Pauline Johnson Elementary

Effective September 2, 2025 until June 30, 2026

The annual salary for a full-time teaching position ranges from $59,711 to $109,520, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The salary will be prorated based on FTE.

Required Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate for this position must be able to demonstrate evidence of the following:

  • Native-like fluency in spoken and written French and English
  • Experience in French Immersion with a proven understanding of the French Immersion BC Curriculum, in particular the Big Ideas and Core Competencies
  • A strong capacity for and proven experience in supporting and enhancing early literacy and numeracy in a French Immersion context, with an emphasis on accommodations and differentiation
  • Knowledge and experience using digital literacy and AI to enhance and support student learning
  • An understanding of the First People's Principles as they relate to the curriculum and our local context
  • A proven ability to frame the curriculum and classroom management around equity, diversity, inclusivity, and reconciliation
  • A wide repertoire of strategies addressing assessment (formative, summative, peer and self)
  • Proven ability to create a safe and caring learning environment for students using the principles of social-emotional learning and fundamentals of executive function
  • The ability to build strong relationships and utilize effective oral and written communication skills with students and all shareholders
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a full school and district team to create a stimulating, creative, and engaging educational environment
