The Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture is seeking one highly motivated and organized individual to join the Programs Branch as a Program Officer.
Using your knowledge of agricultural production practices and the Canadian Agricultural Partnership, you will use various methods to evaluate and analyze applications as well as claims and make decisions on eligibility.
The position will be responsible for ensuring that applicants have complied with all program requirements and that the ideal candidate will have experience with outcomes-based program delivery. Programs Branch delivers a multitude of programs to the province's farmers, ranchers and agribusinesses, each with their criteria and nuances. Program Officers must have the ability to retain, and apply, complex program requirements while making eligibility decisions. It is typical to work on multiple programs weekly or even daily in some instances.
Our candidate of choice will demonstrate excellent computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software, etc.). You will also have the ability to interpret and explain guidelines, both verbally and in writing, in order to apply the Acts, regulations, policies and procedures to agricultural producers and stakeholders. Following and adhering to process and procedures, you will be able to work both independently and as a team member with colleagues, agencies and others to meet program and client needs.
The knowledge and experience required for this position are typically obtained through a Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture, Business Administration (or a related field) or equivalent work experience in a similar capacity of eligibility and decision-making through primary delivery of government programming.
