About the role

Job Description The Production Supervisor, Test and Trials is responsible for managing the various permit processes for an assigned project, including but not limited to Lock Out Tag Out and safety sensitive testing. The Production Supervisor, Test and Trials supervises trades team members to execute the various permit processes assigned and performed in their area. The Production Supervisor, Test and Trials will also work with their peers in other departments to plan and coordinate material deliveries, inspect work quality, and identify process improvements to improve the safety and efficiency of the various processes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the permit requests from Production and Trials teams and ensuring systems are locked out as required.
  • Supervise and lead multi-skilled crew of unionized trades team members to execute the test, set-to-work, trials, commissioning, troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment and systems onboard new construction and ship repair areas.
  • Ensure work is progressing safely, efficiently and correctly in accordance with ship build schedule.
  • Co-ordinate scheduled and unscheduled work activities within the Trials team and with Production team counterparts.
  • Recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality.
  • Train crew members in job duties, safety procedures and company policies.
  • Performance Manage and complete daily time entry assigned crew members.
  • Prepare production and other reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all Company Environmental, Health and Safety policies
  • Ensure strict adherence to Company quality procedures and policies.

Qualifications

  • Completion of relevant Red Seal Trades certificate, University, College, Technical or Vocational Training
  • 5+ years experience in one of, or a combination of, the following: Commissioning naval or commercial ships in a new construction program, or comparable experience in naval ship modernization and overhaul, Commissioning high tech systems in process or power plants, Seagoing naval or commercial engineering experience, Production Supervisor, Production Work Lead, Chargehand or trades work experience in a Marine/Industrial/Shipbuilding environment.
  • Applicants should have a proven record of managing work in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Experience mentoring, training and/or coaching.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with Computers. Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite, Kronos, Aviva considered an asset.
  • Problem solving skills and ability to lead and manage multiple priorities in a fast pace environment
