The Werklund School of Education invites applications for a Research Assistant. This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
The ENHANCE Lab is led by Dr. Carly McMorris and conducts research that aims to improve the lives of children and their families through a better understanding of neurodevelopment, health, and child education. Various research projects are conducted within the lab related to understanding the mental health issues of children and youth with neurodevelopmental disorders.
The Research Assistant will provide support services for the FIERCE project, including, assisting in the planning, organization and administration. The FIERCE projects focuses on anxiety reduction in Autistic youth, as well as supporting their parents, this is achieved through a CBT group-treatment program which runs for 12 weeks. The research assistant will work independently on day-to-day duties under the supervision of Dr. McMorris as well as collaboratively with other team members including recruitment and other research activities related to the project. They may also be asked to help facilitate sessions, maintain contact with participating families, and prepare reports and grants based on study findings. Other duties include assisting in knowledge translation activities to better inform both the public and relevant specialists; and other organizational tasks (e.g., completing paperwork, ensuring that supplies and equipment are readily available, etc.).
Summary of Key Responsibilities
- Assist with creating ethics applications, modifications and renewals for the projects
- Assist with participant recruitment and the scheduling of participants for data collection
- Assist with the assessment of participants (e.g., interviewing participants, data collection, scoring of various psychological measures)
- Data management and maintenance
- Conduct standard statistical analyses and present results
- Conduct systematic reviews
- Assist with manuscript preparation (e.g., conducting literature reviews, writing, editing, etc.)
- Support Dr. McMorris and other research team members
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of research experience
- Undergraduate degree in Psychology
- Experience working in a research lab setting
- Knowledge and familiarity in systematic review procedures
- Knowledge in neurodevelopmental conditions
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite Applications (Excel, Word)
- Familiarity with administrating and scoring psychological measures
- Experience with preparing research manuscripts for preparation
- Experience with data entry and cleaning in preparation for analysis
- Preference will be given to those with Tri-Council Ethics Training
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
