The Opportunity

The Game Day In-House/Online Announcer for Huskies Athletics at Keyano College is responsible for providing live commentary, announcements, and player introductions for home games and online streaming events. The announcer enhances the fan experience by delivering engaging, informative, and entertaining content in real-time. This role is key to maintaining the professional atmosphere of Huskies Athletics events, both in-person and online, while promoting the Huskies' brand.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

In House Game Announcing:
o Provide in-house live commentary for all Huskies Athletics home games, including volleyball, basketball and soccer.
o Deliver pre-game introductions, play-by-play announcements, and post-game highlights.
o Announce player introductions, game results, statistics, sponsor mentions, and other in-game content.
o Work closely with game officials, coaches, and scorekeepers to ensure accurate and timely communication.
o Create a dynamic, engaging atmosphere for fans, tailoring announcements to the nature of the game and the audience.

Online Streaming Commentary:
o Provide real-time commentary for online streamed games, ensuring clarity and professionalism for viewers.
o Ensure that online commentary complements video feeds, engaging remote audiences while delivering insightful analysis and information.

Script Writing and Preparation:
o Collaborate with the Huskies Sport Information Coordinator to prepare scripts for game days, including game facts, player bios, sponsor messages, and promotional material.
o Conduct research on opposing teams and key players to provide in-depth and knowledgeable commentary.
o Adapt scripts as necessary to reflect live game developments.

Brand Representation:
o Uphold and promote the Huskies Athletics brand during games, maintaining professionalism and energy throughout.
o Incorporate Huskies marketing materials, promotions, and sponsor mentions into game day announcements.
o Act as a positive representative of Keyano College and the Huskies Athletics program.

Technical Collaboration:
o Coordinate with technical staff to ensure high-quality sound during in-house games and clean audio for online streams.
o Troubleshoot audio or technical issues as needed to ensure seamless game day production.

Fan Engagement and Interaction:
o Engage with fans in attendance through interactive announcements, game highlights, and fan contests.
o Create excitement and maintain audience energy through well-timed commentary and updates.

Post-Game Duties:
o Provide post-game recaps and announcements for fans, including final scores, upcoming events, and relevant news.
o Assist in closing out online streaming sessions with final commentary, thank-yous to sponsors, and a preview of future events.

Qualifications

Education:
o High school diploma required. Post-secondary education in Communications, Broadcasting, or a related field is preferred.

Experience:
o Proven experience in sports announcing, broadcasting, or public speaking.
o Knowledge of Huskies Athletics and ACAC sports is highly desirable.
o Experience with online streaming platforms and related technologies.

Skills:
o Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.
o Strong knowledge of sports, particularly volleyball, basketball and soccer.
o Ability to work under pressure and deliver clear, engaging commentary in real-time.
o Proficiency with audio equipment and online streaming technology.
o Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage scripts and game-day timelines.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary is based on education and experience.
