The Trinity Team is seeking a talented System Planner. The successful candidate will support the planning and execution of Outside Plant (OSP) and Inside Plant (ISP) fiber network projects.
This position will be based in Toronto, ON with a hybrid work model. Site surveys will be required, travelling will be required up to 60%.
Responsibilities
- Design and plan HFC and fiber-optic network expansions, upgrades, and rebuilds using GIS and CAD-based tools.
- Create and manage Greenfield projects in ADM; ensure Brownfield projects are properly assigned and tracked.
- Analyze project scope for OSP and ISP components using SpatialNET, including On-net, Near-net, and Off-net configurations.
- Prepare and submit quotations to client for a purchase order.
- Coordinate and schedule project surveys with customer, end-clients and surveyors. Maintain survey schedule.
- Request and review electrical drawings and site plans from developers for Greenfield projects.
- Conduct field surveys and site assessments to validate design feasibility and accuracy. Prepare survey plans post survey ensuring clarity in scope and timelines.
- Coordinate with Head-End Fiber Specialists to obtain and review splice packages.
- Review completed design packages, ensuring inclusion of OSP/ISP feeds and all required splice documentation.
- Prepare accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) in ADM aligned with project specifications.
- Compile and issue comprehensive project documentation to the Network Implementation Team.
- Maintain and update project status in ADM, monitoring progress through to completion.
- Collaborate with internal Rogers teams and external stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
- Mentor junior designers and perform quality checks to uphold design standards.
- Ensure compliance with current OSP design principles, safety codes, electrical codes, and customer-specific practices
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in HFC or fiber network planning/design in the telecommunications industry.
- Proficiency in SpatialNET and BricsCAD is required.
- Familiarity with NetX is an asset.
- Familiarity with ADM and network implementation workflows.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Rogers or similar MSO (Multiple System Operator) environments is an asset.
- SCTE® certifications (e.g., BDS, BTS, FTTx) are considered an asset.
- PMP or project coordination experience is an asset.
