About the role

Shift Schedule:

Monday - Friday: 6:00am - 2:30pm

General Accountability

As a key member of the production team the General Plant Labour’s responsibilities include but are not limited to operating equipment to process milk, cream, and other dairy products, following specified methods and formulas. Additionally, they will warrant safe plant operations and a safe working environment for all employees.

Critical Success Factors:

  • Performing pre-operational quality, housekeeping and safety checks before starting production lines
  • Operating equipment according to operating procedures in order to achieve the daily production target
  • Responsible for changeovers and cleaning of equipment
  • Equipment checks for malfunctions and proper sanitation and taking appropriate corrective action
  • Clean-up and sanitation of tanks or lines that are selected to be cleaned
  • Supplying work area with materials
  • Supplying all pertinent documents and reports as required by management or the government, in an accurate and legible format
  • Ensuring that all products packaged meet or exceed company and government standards for quality and composition
  • Ensuring compliance with GMP, Food Safety, SOPs, OHSA and other pertinent policies, procedures and legislation Making recommendations and promoting best practices
  • Performing any other duties as directed by management personnel
  • Supporting health and safety programs

Key Attributes of the Ideal Candidate

  • A minimum of two years related experience in an industrial plant and knowledge of plant and equipment operations
  • Ability to identify, problem solve and research alternatives within the scope of the job
  • Must be able to perform physical job demands according to body mechanics outlined in the ergonomic training
  • Physically able to lift >20 kg and frequently push or pull >70 kg with frequent lifting and bending
  • Must be proactive to new ideas and promoting continuous improvements
  • Good mathematical, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a team based environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Available for weekend overtime as production demands require
  • Additional experience or education and training an asset, i.e. mix making, handling chemicals, food plant sanitation, GMPs and HACCP
  • Duties may be reassigned due to sickness, vacation, compensation or absenteeism.
  • Shifts may change with proper notice if customer requirements change.
