PARKING ENFORCEMENT DISPATCHER

A member of the Enforcement and Customer Service team, the Dispatcher is responsible for liaising with contracted enforcement security teams to assist them while on patrol by ensuring that they are visiting the required lots and ensure a high level of service is provided to the public and our clients.

The dispatcher will be accountable for ensuring that the day-to-day parking enforcement program and procedures in support of parking enforcement patrollers, facilities and corporate objectives are followed. The ideal candidate will have exceptional communication skills, must be able to multitask and make appropriate decision effectively.

SHIFT PACKAGE: Sundays, Wednesdays through Saturday- 40 hours per week

General

  • Provide strong customer service and dispatching skills; dealing with contractors, supervisors and parking enforcement officers who work directly at our parking facilities

  • Works closely with the leadership team of the enforcement program to ensure that the routes/zones are allocated properly and ensure teams are visiting the lots routinely and in a timely manner

  • Ensure proper parking enforcement practices and enforcement procedures are followed

  • General oversight of procedures and compliance to standard operating procedures.

  • General knowledge of Vancouver and different neighbourhoods

-Provide customer service to customers appealing violations, enforcing lot rules and utilizing all customer service centre software.

-Maintain a high level of ticket resolutions daily/weekly to support the efforts of the Client Service Team which includes violation collections and monthly parking queries.

Enforcement

  • Provide feedback and assist with implementations of new routes/zones and coordinate with the enforcement leadership team

  • Monitor and provide real-time feedback to parking enforcement providers around issues that are identified in an ongoing capacity

  • Monitor and ensure that lots are being visited routinely and flag any issues that our enforcement teams are noticing while on the road

  • Prepare written reports and correspondence to be sent to the enforcement management group analyzing gaps and performance issues

  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and make decisions in a manner consistent and essential with the job function

  • Ability to multitask using various parking enforcement software, radio push-to-talk system and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

  • Effectively handle parking enforcement officers’ inquiries

  • Dispatching and routing patrollers to locations that requires parking enforcement assistance or tow requests

  • Review incident reports and address to enforcement management team.

  • Effectively keep notes from each shift and deliver them to the enforcement management group in a timely manner

  • Monitor systems and routes to effectively send enforcement patrol units to appropriate lots and areas based on occupancy levels

  • Monitor visits and scans to ensure that lots are being effectively visited by our enforcement teams

-Conduct regular inspections of the parking lot to ensure parkers adhere to regulations and evaluate the condition of the parking area

-Participate in scheduled training sessions to provide education and guidance to new parking enforcement officers.

-Conduct on-site quality assurance assessments to ensure that parking enforcement officers meet the necessary standards in the field.

Education and Experience

  • Secondary School Graduation required.

  • Basic Security Training course completion

  • Minimum 1 year experience working in a security role.

  • Dispatch experience is an asset.

  • Demonstrated competence use of Microsoft Office applications and proficient.

  • Minimum typing speed of 55 WPM

  • Radio Communication experience

  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask.

Work Conditions

  • Primarily office setting with work in the field during peak season as required - training and coaching of enforcement patrollers as required year-round.

  • Weekends, holidays, and evenings required.

  • Possess a valid Class 5 BC driver’s licence (with a clean driver's abstract)

  • Must have a valid BC Security Worker's licence.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $45,000.00-$48,000.00 per year

Education:

  • DCS / DEC (preferred)

Experience:

  • dispatching: 1 year (preferred)
  • Customer service: 2 years (required)
  • Team management: 2 years (required)
  • Training & development: 2 years (required)

Licence/Certification:

  • BCDL Class 5 (required)
  • Security Worker's Licence (preferred)
