RMHC Toronto is seeking a Senior Development Officer (SDO) to elevate and grow our development corporate partnerships to serve more families. This role is integral to our Development & Marketing team.
Reporting to the Director, Development, The SDO’s focus is on corporate partnership development that brings firsthand experience in portfolio analysis, segmentation, fundraising and stewardship excellence. The SDO is an integral part of the development team, building mutually beneficial partnerships with corporations and organizations while growing a pipeline and portfolio of approximately 100 corporate donors.
This role cultivates and builds positive relationships with new and loyal corporate donors with gifts of $5,000 to $100,000. You will develop, implement and manage strategic fundraising plans for donors to increase revenue and achieve fundraising goals. You will create and deliver excellent stewardship communications that recognize partners and show the impact of their giving.
The SDO is expected to meet donors in person, host donor engagements and tours as well as support key events. This role is onsite with flexibility and availability to participate in occasional evening and weekend partner engagements and events.
Key Responsibilities
- Primary relationship manager and lead for an assigned portfolio of corporate supporters and partners ($5,000 - $100,000).
- Expand the donor pipeline through business development and prospect identification, building meaningful relationships by inspiring new supporters to partner with RMHC Toronto to support more families.
- Apply leading practices in corporate partnerships and pursue new and innovative strategies to expand corporate giving and sponsorship opportunities.
- Create persuasive funding proposals, presentations and briefing notes for partner communications and solicitations.
- Negotiate and implement partnership agreements with mutual benefits and value to RMHC Toronto and our partners.
- Develop and implement a communication plan to ensure consistent, and relevant brand messaging with corporate partners.
- Steward the relationship with key corporate representatives, creating and delivering annual stewardship plans for partners to communicate impact to their employees and/or clients and drive value to their business.
- Develop and execute engagement plans tailored to partners and constituents, which may include tours, activations and other initiatives.
- Collect and analyze data to measure and report the effectiveness of engagement initiatives and use insights to refine strategies and tactics.
- Generate innovative sponsorship concepts and secure sponsorship support for signature events.
- Represent RMHC Toronto at fundraising and recognition events (cheque presentations, speaking opportunities, etc.).
- Book, host and deliver RMHC Toronto engagement activities, with a focus on Meals from the Heart Program (includes some evening and weekend work).
- Manage select local relationships for the RMHC National Partnership Program, including supporting the execution of deliverables and impact reporting for national partners.
Education & Experience
- 3- 5 years progressive experience in a fundraising role, specifically, soliciting and closing donor gifts at the $10k+ level is an asset.
- College diploma or bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Fundraising, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business, or a related discipline)
- Proven experience in fundraising, partner and donor engagement, public relations, or a related field, with a track record of successful initiatives.
- Experience working in healthcare charity or not-for-profit organization, or McDonald’s, is an asset.
- CFRE designation is an asset.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills to engage, solicit, and steward corporate donors and partners.
- Proven ability to develop persuasive business cases and negotiate corporate sponsorships, donations, and engagement opportunities.
- Strong knowledge of corporate giving, cause marketing, and sponsorship trends, with a talent for aligning mutual value.
- Skilled in managing the full donor cycle—from cultivation and solicitation to stewardship and administrative tracking.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficient in fundraising CRMs (ideally Raiser’s Edge/NXT) for tracking, reporting, and donor analysis.
- Demonstrated success meeting or exceeding revenue goals through corporate partnerships.
- Confident presenter and ambassador—comfortable leading tours, hosting donor visits, and speaking at events.
- Creative and strategic thinker with a flair for customized engagement and stewardship.
- Collaborative and accountable, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Willing and able to travel within the GTA as required.
Additional Requirements: Completion of satisfactory reference check and a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.
