About the role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Hardware Test Engineer to join our dynamic team, responsible for designing, developing, and executing comprehensive test plans and procedures for complex electronic systems and components. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, with a focus on hardware testing, troubleshooting, and validation.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain detailed test plans, procedures, and strategies for hardware components, subsystems, and integrated systems.

Design, build, and calibrate test fixtures, jigs, and equipment to support hardware testing activities.

Execute hardware tests, including functional, performance, environmental, and reliability testing, using a combination of manual and automated testing techniques.

Analyze test results, identify trends, and generate comprehensive test reports, providing actionable insights and recommendations for improvement.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, software developers, and system integrators, to ensure seamless hardware testing and validation.

Stay abreast of emerging hardware testing methodologies, tools, and best practices, driving continuous improvement and innovation in our testing processes.

Contribute to the development and maintenance of hardware test documentation, including test plans, test cases, test procedures, and test reports.

Participate in root cause analysis and lessons learned activities to identify opportunities for process improvement and knowledge sharing.
Reporting
- Provide status and metrics to the Lead or program designate
- Brings issues that impact planned test events to senior leadership in real time
- Provide current metrics for problem reports
- Oversite and management of Daily Stand-up to report out on major issues
What you bring to the role
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline with 2 years professional experience, or equivalent experience/combined education.
- Experience in hardware testing, troubleshooting, and validation, with a focus on electronic systems and components.
- Experience designing, developing, and executing comprehensive test plans and procedures for hardware systems.
- Strong knowledge of hardware testing methodologies, tools, and best practices, including digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and signal generators.
- Proficiency in using hardware test automation tools and frameworks
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, power electronics, or embedded systems is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to obtain a NATO Secret security clearance.
Additional skills desired for the role
- Experience with Naval Combat Systems and their supporting elements is considered an asset
- Experience with IBM DOORS is considered an asset
- Experience with Agile Scrum methodology is considered an asset
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite
- Familiarity with SAP
- Active NATO Secret security clearance is considered an asset
- Familiarity with industry standards, such as MIL-STD, DO-178C, or DO-254.
- Certification in relevant testing methodologies (e.g., ISTQB, CSTE).
Language Requirements in Quebec
Knowledge of the English language is required for this role as the position described in this posting requires the candidate to communicate every day with a virtual team outside Quebec as well as communicate with different members of the organization, clients and suppliers located outside of Canada. For engineering positions, the candidate must also be able to read or modify technical documents from our main clients and write technical documents for these same clients.
