Edmonton Catholic School Division (ECSD) is looking for a permanent Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team. Our Speech-Language Pathologists work as members of the Learning Services Team to provide collaborative, multidisciplinary support to students with diverse learning needs. Programs are inclusive and welcoming to all children, so an understanding of the Pyramid of Intervention is essential. A key part of the role is collaborating and communicating with the educational team to build capacity and promote student growth and success.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide consultative and direct services and supports to schools and families for students who have identified needs in speech-language development
- Administer, score, and interpret speech-language assessments and recommend appropriate communication strategies and programming for students with diverse learning needs through collaborative partnerships with teachers and other professionals
- Contribute to the development of Individual Program Plans (IPP) and implement lessons and activities to address individual student goals
- Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to speech-language assistants in the implementation of targeted and specialized strategies
- Liaise closely with the teachers, Educational Assistants, Therapeutic Assistants, and other members of the school team, including multidisciplinary team members
- Support the generalization of intervention strategies to all natural environments, including the classroom, home, and new environments
- Participate in the development and delivery of professional development for Division staff in the areas of specific communication disorders, expressive language, receptive language, literacy, social communication, speech sound production, assistive technology, and alternative/augmentative communication
QUALIFICATIONS and COMPETENCIES
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Three or more years of related experience in classroom-based service delivery is desired
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and consultative skills
- Registered with or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA)
- Knowledge of the selection and design of alternative and augmentative communication systems
