Business Overview The Finance team is responsible for financial reporting & analysis, budgeting, billing, and capital oversight for Fidelity Canada’s various business units. The team’s main focus is to support these business groups in achieving their objectives by identifying issues, recommending solutions, providing financial transparency and value-added financial assessments. This is achieved by establishing strong relationships with internal and external client groups while meeting the needs and interests of all stakeholders.

Your Opportunity The successful individual is an articulate and analytical financial professional who will utilize their technical skills to provide support to our Fidelity Wealth business, while managing the needs and interests of many stakeholders including senior management. As an integral member of the Finance team, you will be responsible for timely and accurate financial reporting, accurate billing and payment of commissions, performing analysis to assess our risk adjusted capital and working on various projects. You will be relied on as a resident expert and primary financial resource on all matters relating to regulatory reporting and controls.

What You Will Do

  • Contributes to monthly and annual regulatory reporting requirements including Monthly Financial Reporting (MFR) and Year-End Form 1, ensures regulatory compliance and issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Provide proactive support on capital requirements, including the completion of complex analysis and financial cases for new business development opportunities.
  • Contributes for risk-adjusted-capital forecasts and budgeting, ensuring capital meets regulatory requirements, early warning tests and operating requirements.
  • Documents, implements and tests internal control policies and procedures using a standard template for ease of reference by all Finance staff, ensuring the firm is current on regulatory rule changes.
  • Contributes to the advisor commissions and payment calculations while also providing overall financial stewardship, and support for other ad hoc projects.
  • Partner with colleagues in the business as well as Finance colleagues across the organization on all finance related initiatives relating to workflow, billing, and journal entries.

What We Are Looking For

  • University degree with a business focus (Accounting, Economics, Commerce preferred) or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a financial analysis role within a finance department
  • Financial Services, Broker/Dealer industry experience preferred
  • General working knowledge of CIRO regulatory reporting requirements preferred
  • Completion of or working towards a financial/accounting designation (CPA CA, CMA, CGA) and/or CFA or MBA is strongly preferred

  • You have experience developing financial models, conducting sensitivity analysis and developing compelling insights for executive-level audiences
  • You can translate financial concepts into business terminology
  • You are well-organized, attentive to detail, and capable of good time-management
  • You have advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications, especially in Excel, PowerPoint and VBA
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment and work well with all levels of the organization
