Reporting to: Manager of Facility Operations and Custodial Services
Description:
The Facility Site Supervisor oversees the cleanliness and maintenance of facilities, ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for all occupants. This role involves managing custodial staff, developing cleaning protocols, and coordinating with other departments to meet organizational standards.
Responsibilities:
Supervision and Training:
- Recruit, train, and supervise custodial and assistant custodial? staff, ensuring adherence to cleaning procedures and safety protocols. Provide ongoing training and performance evaluations to maintain high standards.
Scheduling and Coordination:
- Develop and manage work schedules to ensure adequate coverage for all areas. Respond to specific cleaning needs and special events.
Quality Control:
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities to assess cleanliness and identify areas needing improvement. Implement corrective actions as necessary to maintain established standards.
Inventory Management:
- Maintain inventory records of cleaning supplies, tools, and equipment. Monitor stocking levels and procure necessary supplies to ensure uninterrupted operations.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Budgeting and Cost Control:
- Assist in developing and managing the custodial budget, tracking expenses, and identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
Equipment Maintenance:
- Oversee the proper use and maintenance of custodial equipment, ensuring all tools are in good working condition and arranging repairs or replacements as needed.
- Stay informed of emerging trends, innovations, and best practices in the cleaning industry, particularly those related to cleaning technologies, equipment, and digital tools to continually improve service quality and operational efficiencies.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
- Minimum - High school diploma or equivalent
- Preferred - Post-secondary education in a related field (i.e. facilities management, building systems, engineering technology or business administration)
Experience:
- Minimum of 2-5 years in custodial or facility maintenance
- 3-5 years supervisory experience an asset
- Working experience in a union environment is an asset
Skills:
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in using custodial equipment and knowledge of cleaning techniques.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with little supervision
- Proven ability to take initiative, work independently and proactively
- A keen ability for problem solving
- Ability to manage budgets and control expenses.
Certifications**/competency****:**
- The following are considered an asset
- Facilities management certificate
- WHMIS, First Aid/CPR and Working at Heights
- Building Environmental Systems certification
Additional Requirements:
- This role is essential in maintaining the operational efficiency and cleanliness of facilities, directly impacting the health and satisfaction of building occupants.
- Successful applicant must have a valid driver's licence and dependable transportation to travel from site to site
- Must be able to work flexible shifts (12-8pm; 1-9pm; 2-10pm)
- Must be available to work on-call on a rotating basis as scheduled
- Ability to foster collaboration, mutual respect and discretion in sensitive settings
