Job Definition
The Microsoft Licensing Specialist is responsible for building and growing the licensing practice with new and existing clients across the WBM client community. You will work closely with our sales and contracts team to ensure that we have a deep understanding of our clients current and future needs and create a tailored solution that drives value for their organizations. You will help to identify existing and future opportunities to grow our Microsoft practice and ensure we are evolving with our clients and their needs.
Key Responsibilities
Client & Sales Support
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients and internal teams on Microsoft licensing options, renewals, and optimization strategies.
- Collaborate with Account Executives and Client Managers to develop licensing roadmaps that align with client goals and digital transformation initiatives.
- Provide pre-sales support including license sizing, quoting, and proposal development.
Licensing Strategy & Execution
- Maintain deep expertise in Microsoft licensing programs (CSP, NCE, Azure) and stay current on changes, incentives, and compliance requirements.
- Identify and pursue upsell and cross-sell opportunities through licensing reviews and optimization assessments.
- Support procurement and deployment processes, ensuring accurate and timely license fulfillment.
Operational Excellence
- Partner with Finance and CSP operations to manage billing, invoicing, and rebate tracking.
- Monitor license usage and consumption trends to proactively recommend adjustments.
- Contribute to internal enablement by training sales and support teams on licensing best practices.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in Microsoft licensing, preferably in a CSP or MSP environment.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft licensing models, including NCE and Azure.
- Experience supporting sales teams and working directly with clients.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Partner Center and distributor portals is an asset.
- Microsoft certifications (e.g., MCP, MS-900) are a plus.
