About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the Physiotherapist assesses, diagnoses and treats patients in a tertiary care setting who present with actual or potential impairment, pain, functional limitations or disabilities. Physiotherapy assessment involves obtaining a detailed medical history, performing specific and standardized tests and evaluation procedures to determine a physical diagnosis. Holistic treatment programs are developed using exercises, education, and manual, mechanical, electrical and hydrotherapy techniques to assist the patient in regaining and/or maintaining an optimal level of function. The physiotherapist educated and communicated with other health disciplines, the general public, family members and caregivers with regard to health promotion, physiotherapy treatment and patient management. The physiotherapist provides supervision and evaluation of physiotherapy students and supervision of physiotherapy assistants and aides. The physiotherapist reports to a Health Services Manager and as a member of a clinical team, the physiotherapist collaborated with colleagues to determine team goals and objectives, participated in the evaluation of team effectiveness, and solves problems and shares responsibilities. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required. Physiotherapists work on weekends in many areas of the hospital. The successful applicant may be required to provide services anywhere within the Rehabilitation Services portfolio, including various sites in Cumberland County.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university
- Membership with the Nova Scotia College or Physiotherapists (Provincial licensing body)
- Computer skills (statistics input, word processing, GroupWise)
- Annual Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation certification (BCLS)
- Annual Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System training and certification. (WHMIS)
- Access to reliable transportation
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
- Permanent Full Time position; 75 Hours Bi Weekly
Compensation and Incentives
$38.43 - $49.74 hourly
Successful candidates may also be eligible for a $5,000 - $10,000 signing bonus and up to $5,000 of relocation assistance with a defined Return of Service contract. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
