About the role
Who you are
- ✔ Currently enrolled as a student at a Canadian post-secondary institution or technical bootcamp
- ✔ New graduates - Within 6 months of your graduation date
- ✔ Available to work full-time hours
- ✔ Residing in Canada
- ✔ Able to commute to our Toronto HQ on Wednesdays and Thursdays
- Is currently pursuing a degree in Business, Finance or related field
- Has the ability to simplify, improve, and document processes by leveraging technology and collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Has the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Is passionate about technology, specifically fintech
- Has excellent attention to detail, combined with strong communication and collaboration skills
- Experience with P2P systems would be considered an asset
What the job involves
- At Wealthsimple, we offer 4 to 8-month internships that are open to co-op and non-co-op students, and recent grads
- During your internship, you will have the opportunity to contribute to projects that are changing the landscape of financial services for Canadians
- You will be on a team that supports your growth, provides mentorship, and connects you to the broader Wealthsimple community!
- Our internship program follows a hybrid work model, where you’ll be working from our Toronto headquarters on Wednesdays and Thursdays
- This structure offers the flexibility of remote work, while also providing the collaboration, connection, and mentorship that come from being together in person
- Support the optimization phase of our Procure-to-Pay (P2P) system (ZIP)
- Support the team with data entry, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial information
- Support the full cycle AP function through creation and entry of purchase orders
- Input vendor invoices into our P2P system, ensuring accurate coding and approvals
- Review expense reports for accuracy, completeness and adherence to company policies
- Reconcile corporate credit cards through expense verification and accurate transaction coding
- Assist in gathering and analyzing quotes from vendors to support procurement decision making
- Help organize and maintain financial records, including contracts and invoices
- Support with month end and year end close tasks and processes
- Provide support on special projects and other tasks as assigned
- Learn about the fintech industry and gain insight into P2P practices and learn how to analyze and interpret financial data and spending trends to optimize vendor management and cost control
