The Department of Psychiatry, South Island, has an opening for a full-time or two part-time Psychiatrists to work collaboratively within a vibrant interdisciplinary outpatient clinic focused on assisting people with high prevalence disorders of anxiety, mood, adjustment, addictions and personality disorders. The clinic integrates psychiatric management with a range of individual and group psychotherapies provided in collaboration with the interdisciplinary staff. We utilize a “stepped care “approach offering services in both focus and intensity that best matches patient’s needs. The clinic works collaboratively with primary care partners using a “shared care", approach.
Summary
The successful candidate will have expertise and interest in working collaboratively within a rich interdisciplinary team of psychiatrists and therapists utilizing psychotherapy and psychiatric management skills.
Clinical Duties
- Assessment and collaborative participation in the treatment of people presenting with broad range of problems including Mood, Anxiety, Adjustment, Addictions, Personality. Clinical documentation will follow evolving standards and policy. Participation in the South Island General Psychiatry call rotation is a requirement of this position.
Administration Duties
- Attend clinical team meetings, Department of Psychiatry meetings provide reports, and maintain medical credentials per VIHA Medical Staff Rules and VIHA policy, where appropriate.
Teaching and Research
- Facilitate the development of and help sustain a rich teaching and supervision atmosphere with residents and medical students as well as clinical counseling interns who train in our clinics.
- Research interests are encouraged and engagement with other researchers

- Experience and interest to work in multidisciplinary, collaborative care and stepped care models.
