Accounting Clerk III - Property Taxes and Utility Billing
$38.23 - $40.58 per hour (2024 rates)
The District of North Saanich is seeking applications from motivated professionals to serve in the capacity of Accounting Clerk III – Property Taxes and Utility Billing.
Reporting to the Manager of Financial Services, the Accounting Clerk III - Property Taxes and Utility Billing performs accounting work of intermediate to senior complexity which includes maintaining accounting and statistical records, creating journal entries, performing account analysis and preparing a variety of financial reports.
The position requires exercising independent judgement in carrying out job duties. This position will focus on the property taxes and utility billing roles and duties and will also be expected to provide support and/or back up services for the accounts payable and payroll functions. In addition, the incumbent will carry out work in the following: budgeting assistance; related audit working paper preparation; financial reporting; and other accounting duties.
Applicants must have high school graduation supplemented by successful completion of three years in a recognized professional accounting course and three years directly related experience in a local government setting. Consideration will be given to candidates with an equivalent combination of experience, education and training. The District will consider sponsoring a candidate who is interested in obtaining their CPA designation.
This position is a Union position and is subject to the terms and conditions in the Collective Agreement between District of North Saanich and the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 374.
