Position Summary
Reporting to the Vice President and Chief Transformation Officer, the Director, Digital, Innovation & Health Information Management is responsible for developing and implementing the overall digital health innovation and health information management strategy and data governance program for Quinte Health. The Director will be committed to a high standard of performance and will provide day-to-day planning, operational excellence, and digital health innovation expertise and support across the organization to support its strategy and priorities.
This position contributes to the provision of strategic and operational leadership with digital and health information management functions, including privacy, which enable and support the ongoing development and delivery of high-quality, integrated health programs and services that are based on standards of care, efficient, sustainable, safe and responsive to the needs our communities. The position leads the delivery of digital health innovation initiatives and provision of health information management support strategies and operational plans consistent with legislation, accountability frameworks and the strategy of the organization. The position will foster and lead, as well as contribute as a key partner of, digital health initiatives that are leveraged across the breadth of the healthcare system and direct the design and implementation of cutting-edge innovations to achieve targeted outcomes.
The Director supports the Vice President and Chief Transformation Officer in the development and implementation a strategy for the digital health innovation roadmap to advance strategy and services across the Quinte Health ecosystem. The Director is responsible for leading the development and implementation of services and interventions that facilitates sound health information management, including privacy, practices and supports across the full breadth of the health system and creates and delivers significant value creation towards reducing health inequalities and improving health and wellbeing outcomes across Quinte Health communities.
Required
- Undergraduate degree in health discipline, business, or public administration required.
- Master’s degree in health discipline, business, or public administration preferred.
- Certified Health Executive is an asset.
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience with directing and overseeing the planning, implementation, of digital health, project, and health information management activities of an organization;
- Extensive experience in developing and executing organization wide digital health and health information management/data governance strategy;
- Leadership experience in organizational performance; organizational and operational strategy development, execution and monitoring;
- Experience engaging, mentoring and empowering teams and stakeholders in a collaborative, participatory manner to respond to the mission, vision, goals and objectives of integrated organizations and developing programs and standards to support the vision, goals and objectives of a healthcare organization.;
- Superior interpersonal, written and oral communication skills;
- Excellent organizational, analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills;
- Experience utilizing technology to create efficiencies and streamline tracking, retrieval and distribution of information;
- Strong knowledge of health care issues;
- Analytical capability to solve complex problems and make timely decisions;

Duties
The Director leads the development and execution of a digital health strategy, fostering innovation, and driving the adoption of new technologies across the organization, as well as ensuring and continuously improving health information management and privacy practices for Quinte Health. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, technological expertise, and strong leadership skills to guide the organization through the evolving digital health landscape. The Director is a key leader in ensuring the integrity, accessibility, and security of patient health information within Quinte Health, playing a vital role in supporting quality patient care and efficient healthcare operations.
Key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the overall digital health strategy, aligning it with the organization's goals and objectives.
Innovation Management: Identify, evaluate, and implement innovative digital health solutions, including patient-facing and provider-facing technologies.
Technology Expertise: Possess a strong understanding of digital health technologies, including virtual care, patient portals, remote patient monitoring, and other emerging trends.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with various departments, including IT, clinical teams, marketing, and business development, to ensure seamless integration and adoption of digital health initiatives.
Change Management: Facilitate organizational change by preparing teams for new technologies and processes through training, communication, and support.
Performance Measurement: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of digital health initiatives and identify areas for improvement.
Vendor Management: Oversee relationships with digital health vendors, ensuring they meet the organization's needs and quality standards.
Talent Management: Lead and mentor a team of digital health and health information management professionals, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
Business Development: Identify new opportunities and partnerships to expand the organization's digital health footprint.
Other Duties Include:
- Provide inspiring leadership and analytical insights to organizational leadership, staff, and physicians. The position will help to deliver a dynamic, effective and innovative approach to digital innovation and health information management, including privacy.
- Acting as a key interface between Quinte Health and external agencies and ensuring compliance with legal duties relating to health information management, funding, statistical and research governance.
- The position will be required to develop and maintain a sustainable financial strategy to deliver and maintain the organization’s digital health innovation strategy. This will require negotiating new models of external funding, development of a core budget to support the ongoing development of services and to continue to explore and exploit emerging technologies and trends within the data industry.
- Explore partnerships that will augment / complement value generated by Quinte Health that enable innovation. Develop effective customer engagement, ensuring all relationships and professional partnerships are well managed, delivering demonstrable benefits to internal customers and external partners.
- Define health information management and privacy practices, lead the creation (and assure the ongoing relevance) of the health information management / data governance strategy in collaboration with other organizational leaders. Institute an enterprise-wide operating model that is consistent with the capabilities and competencies required to execute the strategy.
- Lead research, strategy creation and development of new products or services to expand markets, optimize value from innovation (directly and indirectly) and grow revenue and/or value. Expand the organization’s innovation offerings, especially in emerging digital approaches, skills and technologies.
