About the role

The Senior Finance Manager will be a key financial partner to the National Wholesale business, providing insights and analysis to drive profitable growth and operational efficiency.  The Senior Manager will also be expected to drive cross-functional teams and command strong analytical, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as a financial advisor to the National Wholesale Merchandising and Operational teams by provide day-to-day financial support, reporting and analysis
  • Develop insights and recommendations for business results and discuss with management team to help the achieve targets
  • Analyze weekly and monthly trends to identify early warning indicators of potential issues and/or opportunities
  • Provide weekly and period forecasts in conjunction with business partners
  • Support the Merchandising team with invoice processing and develop a deep understanding of Other Income, including lump sum payments and vendor portal revenue.
  • Prepare annual budgets by category, department and banner with a consolidated Business Unit and Banner view
  • Track the LE (Latest Estimate) on a weekly and periodic basis, and highlight the performance of important KPIs such as sales growth, category margins and expense performance to drive banner profitability
  • Prepare period end journal entries with accuracy and appropriate supporting documentation
  • Cross train on managing the Customer Profitability Analysis, Volume Rebate and Subsidy calculation/reporting processes for the Affiliated and Independents banner
  • Conduct detailed financial report reviews each period, which includes preparation of Period End reporting and presentations to the team and senior leadership
  • Liaise with other functional areas (Corp FP&A, Financial Operations, Merchandising, Operations, Inventory and Procurement) to co-ordinate cross-functional analysis and data accumulation
  • Meet with stakeholders regularly to understand to support business areas and to ensure timely communication of financial mandates
  • Ensure that all critical processes are accurately documented to allow for smooth transitions and resource allocation
  • Coach and mentor to a Sr Financial Analyst on a dotted-line basis, providing guidance on analytical techniques and financial reporting.
  • Participate in various committees to ensure the voice of the BU is heard and is incorporated into new processes and reporting
  • Work with the business & Real Estate team to prepare capital approval presentations
  • Execute postmortem on Capital requests to ensure the capital return targets are met

Role Requirements:

  • Completion of CA/CMA/CGA and/or MBA designation is an asset
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience or a similar combination of education and relevant work experience in an analytical / business planning and facing role
  • Strong leadership and project management skills with proven ability to lead a team and deliver objectives on time and within budget
  • Strong communication skills with an emphasis on verbal reasoning, conflict resolution and listening skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Superior time management and organizational skills with ability to work in-office 4 days per week
  • Strong technical skills (accounting practices/standards, MS Office suite of products such as Excel, Word, Powerpoint, PowerBI, etc.)
  • Knowledge of SAP, Oracle Financials a definite asset
  • Proactive individual, able to effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with people at various levels of an organization
