About the position

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Fleet Services

level: As per the GAFAE Collective Agreement

Duties and Responsibilities

Policy Development & Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and maintain corporate grooming standards aligned with Canadian North’s brand image, safety protocols, and operational requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal policies, health and safety regulations, and airport authority requirements related to grooming activities

Vendor and Contract Management:

  • Manage third-party grooming service providers, ensuring adherence to contractual service levels, budgetary controls and operational expectations
  • Conduct regular evaluations and performance reviews of vendors to maintain grooming excellence.

Program Oversight:

  • Lead and coordinate grooming operations across all bases in partnership with Maintenance Base Managers to ensure consistent service delivery and scheduling
  • Implement quality assurance programs, including inspections, audits, and corrective actions while monitoring performance data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with Flight Operations, Cargo, and Airport Operations teams to ensure grooming standards and activities align with broader operational requirements, passenger experience expectations, and safety protocols.
  • Track and analyze performance data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.

Procurement & Inventory Management:

  • Oversee the procurement, distribution, and optimize costs of grooming materials and supplies across all operational bases.

Job Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Aviation Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred

  • 5 years of progressive experience in aviation grooming operations, aircraft appearance, or related aviation ground services, including at least 2 years of leadership or coordination experience.

  • Extensive knowledge of aircraft grooming standards, practices, and procedures, including interior care, upholstery maintenance, and carpet cleaning.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to provide functional oversight and collaborate effectively cross multiple operational bases.

  • Proven experience managing operational schedules, inventory control, and multi-site service delivery.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); familiarity with aviation maintenance systems (e.g., AMOS, TRAX) considered an asset.

  • Solid understanding of aviation industry and airport safety regulations, with a commitment to regulatory compliance.

  • Ability to travel frequently between operational bases and work flexible hours based on operational needs.

  • Ability to communicate in Inuktitut is an asset

  • Ability to obtain and retain an Airport Restricted Area Pass in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada
