Job Summary Troubleshoot, repair and maintain all molds within the facility to ensure quality parts can be and are produce able, from such.

General Responsibilities

  • All work must be performed in a safe, efficient manner in compliance with Company

Policy, local, provincial and/or federal rules and regulations and the Collective Agreement;

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed;
  • Awareness and understanding of Environmental Policy (ISO 14001) and Quality Policy (TS 16949) guidelines and how the position’s responsibilities impacts on environment and quality;
  • Shows leadership to the workforce by his/her decision-making skills, motivational efforts, fairness and consistency so that employees are well aware of their performance and individual importance in the department;
  • Ensures personnel performing work affecting product quality shall be competent on the basis of on-going training, appropriate education, skills and experience;
  • Performs other duties as required by Manager/Supervisor to keep pace with changes in the scope of work.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on molds, as per given schedule and complete PM Check List to go with it;
  • Perform and/or assist with mold repairs, either in the Tool Room or in the Press, when needed;
  • Perform and/or assist with insert changes, during Production runs;
  • Troubleshoot any tooling issues during Production runs and repair as needed (Press Calls);
  • Machine and/or fabricate mold components of any kind;
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment;
  • Test Mold Systems for functionality (Manifold Heats, Hydraulics, Water, Pneumatics);
  • Light Duty Spotting;
  • Handwork and polishing when required;
  • Assist with any tooling related issues not listed above;
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Working Conditions

  • Clean, safe, organized and fast paced.

Qualifications EDUCATION: Grade 12 Diploma or Equivalent, and Mold Maker Certificate.

Experience

  • Experience with the following types of Molds: Single Shot, 2-Shot and Insert Molding,
  • Experience with tools for the following types of parts: Small Brackets, Interior and Exterior Trim, Black Functional Plastics, Grilles, Fascias and Wheel Liners
  • TIG welding
  • Working with Synventive and HRS hot runner systems.

Required Training

  • Lock-Out Tag-Out;
  • Fall Arrest;
  • Crane Operation;
  • Lift-Truck Operation.

RECOMMENDED TRAINING: WHMIS.

  • Good communication (read and comprehend instructions);
  • Organizational and dexterity skills;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Should be able to work individually or with coworkers, as part of a Team; Knowledge of components and materials used in the production process.
