Overview This position will provide consulting services involving energy technology expertise. May be responsible for management and technical oversight of multiple projects. Interaction with experts and clients in the field, allowing for growth of the incumbent’s current knowledge and consulting skills. Must be able to manage several projects simultaneously and be detail oriented. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Essential Job Functions
- Weaving new and unique approaches into high performance design processes across the mechanical and electrical engineering portfolio, while ensuring the efficacy of sustainability strategy development.
- Applying knowledge and expertise with high-performance mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems and energy codes.
- Carrying out the evaluation of buildings and system design strategies.
- Educating project stakeholders on new technologies, as well as innovative solutions.
- Supporting the oversight of building certification, in addition to performance verification activities and processes.
- Working with applicable analytical tools to help inform design, as well as document performance in alignment with accepted standards.
- Develop tender documents and design packages which include drawings, specification, and sequences of operations.
- Coordinating with other disciplines internally, as well as externally with consultants.
- Participate in project meetings and provide updates on project progress.
- Client interfacing, as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Experience, Education And Certifications
- Completion of a degree or diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or Energy Technology.
- Possession of one or more of the following designations / certifications is considered an asset: PMP, CEM, EIT working towards P.Eng.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in building energy systems analysis, retrofit design and operations.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
Required Skills And Abilities
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, REVIT and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail, specifically in accuracy of calculations and completeness of data collection and notation.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines / successful completion of projects.
- Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
- Self-motivating and able to multi-task while maintaining a high level of organization.
- Ability to act with business integrity and professionalism.
Physical Demands, Overtime, And Travel Requirements Physical Demands – Work is performed in both an office setting and at outside locations (e.g. client office, industrial, construction and/or residential sites). The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, walk on roofs, enter and work in confined areas, work outdoors in hot or cold weather, bend, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and drive a motor vehicle to job sites. Working at heights, including accessing buildings by ladders, swing stages, and mechanical lifts may be necessary. The employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Clear vision and depth perception are also necessary. The employee must be sharp, focused, and alert when conducting inspections, speaking, and interacting with clients, as well as preparing written reports of findings. This includes possessing the mental aptitude, cognition, concentration, and state of mind necessary to perform job duties, with negligible distractions that could jeopardize employee’s work productivity, quality of work, and safety to self and others.
Overtime – There will be some occasions where overtime (or working after normal business hours) will be required to meet the demands of the position.
Travel – This position requires up to 25% local area travel. Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required.
