  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Microbiology team, ensuring consistent, high-quality service delivery.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and accountability.
  • Guide your team through change by setting clear goals, identifying opportunities, and supporting implementation.
  • Collaborate with peers, support functions, and leadership teams to align local operations with broader business objectives.
  • Lead and participate in strategic initiatives and local projects, including planning for new services or business integration.
  • Communicate effectively and transparently to keep your team informed, engaged, and connected to the bigger picture.

What You'll Bring:

  • Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent education and experience.
  • Current registration with CMLTO or CSMLS.
  • Minimum 6 years of laboratory experience, ideally with strong technical skills in Microbiology.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead through influence, foster team connection, and manage performance with fairness and clarity.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to navigate change and support others through it.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • A commitment to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace.

Additional Requirements:

  • This is a 12-month contract position based at the Surrey Reference Laboratory.
  • The standard work schedule is Monday to Friday, with rotating weekend coverage as part of the leadership support structure.
  • Flexibility is important in this role to support team and operational needs, particularly during peak periods or when covering supervisor absences.
